Crown Point Telephone Joins SLICFiber®

Crown Point and Bridge Point Customer:

I am writing today with bittersweet news.  After 129 years of operating as a small, independent company, Crown Point Telephone has made the decision to join our neighbor in the Western Adirondacks, SLICFiber®, going forward.  With the advancement of fiber optics, and technology in general, coupled with the insatiable demand for connectivity, it makes more sense than ever to partner with a larger, well-resourced firm that can support our community.  In addition, most, if not all Crown Point Telephone employees are expected to join the SLICFiber® team to continue serving you.

Crown Point Telephone has worked alongside SLICFiber® for more than a decade.  Its former parent company, Nicholville Telephone, was established in 1902 and still today shares many of the same characteristics as Crown Point Telephone.  With an excellent alignment in our companies’ cultures and commitment to serving our communities, our Board made the decision to become part of the SLICFiber® team.

We are expecting that the transaction should close around the time you are receiving this message.  While many of the things you have grown accustomed to and relied on for years will remain the same, we are likewise delighted to convey important expectations for improvements to your broadband packages.

Existing DSL subscribers without current access to fiber facilities:

You are expected to be converted to a fiber broadband network by November 1.  Upon conversion to the fiber network, you will automatically be enrolled in an upgraded SLICFiber® package with increased speeds at the same price as your current service for thirty months.

Existing DSL subscribers with current access to fiber facilities:

You will be connected to the fiber network prior to November 1 and automatically enrolled in an upgraded SLICFiber® package with increased speeds at the same price as your current service for thirty months.

Existing residential fiber subscribers:

You will be automatically enrolled in an upgraded SLICFiber® package with increased speeds at the same price as your current service for twenty-five months.

As part of the SLICFiber® group of companies, Crown Point Telephone and Bridge Point will be better positioned to lend a helping hand to any of our customers experiencing hardship.  Through the SLICCARESTM program, qualifying recipients may be eligible to receive 50/5 Internet service for the reduced rate of $29.95.  Eligibility for the program is based on the qualification criteria established by the Universal Service Administrative Company for its Lifeline Program. Prospective participants must apply directly with USAC to validate eligibility.
